The Badalona Urban Guard found a 54-year-old homeless man dead in a parking lot on Torras i Bages street, in the Raval neighborhood, on the afternoon of January 6, amidst an intense cold wave.

The alert was received at 2:00 PM, and the Medical Emergency System (SEM) dispatched two units to the Pep Ventura area, but they could only confirm the death of the man, who had been sleeping at that location for some time.
Residents of Torras i Bages street had recently tried to help the victim. They explained that, anticipating low temperatures, they had provided him with blankets and a winter sleeping bag just two days prior, after his belongings had been stolen.

Opposition groups in Badalona have labeled the municipal protocol activated due to the cold wave a 'scam.'

Following the situation and the criticism, the Badalona City Council announced that, together with the Red Cross, beds would be set up in the Colina pavilion. This space was opened to accommodate homeless people during the days of intense cold. On the night of Three Kings' Day, three people utilized this emergency shelter.
