The Society of Jesus and the Association of Municipalities of the Ignatian Way (AMCI) are working to consolidate the promotion of the pilgrimage route before the celebration of the next Jubilee Year in 2029.

Following the Jubilee Year celebrated between 2021 and 2022, the provincial of Spain for the Jesuits established that the jubilee commemoration of the Ignatian Way would be held every seven years at the sanctuaries of Loyola and Manresa. This cycle marks 2029 as the next major milestone, serving as the deadline to complete the promotion of the route.
The Apostolic Work of the Ignatian Way (OACI) of the Society of Jesus continues to ensure the spirituality of the route, while institutional promotion primarily falls to the Association of Municipalities of the Ignatian Way (AMCI). This entity, spearheaded by the Manresa City Council, was created to enhance the tourist and heritage attractions of the path. A Government agreement to establish a working group for a 2026-2029 Strategic Plan has been halted, as the AMCI's plan is already underway.

"If only Catalonia leads it, it will not move forward."

Joan Vila · Executive President of the AMCI
The AMCI's plan is being negotiated with the Ministry of Industry and Tourism to secure a funding agreement. For the first year, an amount of 500,000 euros is requested to develop about fifteen projects. These range from designing signage to strengthening the new Ignatian Way website, presented at Fitur, and various marketing actions.
