Railway chaos in Catalonia has once again focused on the R4, the line connecting Sant Vicenç de Calders with Manresa. After a landslide in Gelida forced a service suspension, the situation seemed to be stabilizing following the Ministry of Transport announcement on February 5.
“"We are normalizing the situation in Rodalies. Today we have also put into operation the sections between Terrassa and Manresa on the R4."
Despite official statements, the reality at the stations has been quite different. This Monday evening, passengers heading to the capital of Bages were forced to disembark due to an alleged technical issue, waiting nearly 45 minutes for an alternative bus service.
This Tuesday morning, the situation repeated itself. No trains circulated between Terrassa and Manresa until 9:00 AM, even though station screens displayed regular departure times. The lack of explanations from Renfe has caused significant frustration among commuters.
Neither Renfe nor Adif were aware of any kind of problem or incident on the R4 line between this Monday and today, Tuesday.
For its part, Adif has denied any problems with the railway infrastructure in this section. Renfe also stated that no incidents were recorded and that the bus service was only maintained as a preventive reinforcement, a version that directly contradicts the experiences of affected travelers.
