The Manresa City Council approved an institutional declaration on February 18, 2026, demanding an immediate response to the historic investment deficit affecting the R4 commuter rail line.

Led by Mayor Marc Aloy, the municipal groups (excluding Vox) highlighted the 'collapse' of the rail network in the Bages region. The declaration points to recent derailments and fatal accidents as evidence of a failed management model by Adif and the Spanish Ministry of Transport.

"The situation of the R4 line falls on us like a slab, affecting thousands of citizens who see their daily lives interrupted."

The local government is calling for the full implementation of the 2020-2030 Rodalies Plan, which includes an 8 billion euro investment, and insists on the effective transfer of the service to the Generalitat of Catalonia to ensure safety and reliability for the 105,000 daily passengers.
