Bartolomé Martín, a 55-year-old Manresa resident with quadriplegia, has been waiting three years for an elevator installation in his building on Maternitat d'Elna street to regain his independence.

Martín's situation began in December 2022 following an accidental fall. Despite the neighbors' agreement in 2023 to install the lift, construction has been halted for six months, leaving him confined to his first-floor apartment.

"My brother has risked his life to carry me down the stairs so I could get some fresh air."

The building's entrance currently features a precarious temporary metal staircase. While the property management cites technical and bureaucratic delays, Manresa City Council social services have intervened to investigate the lack of progress.
