Narcís Riba, former Vicar General of Vic and Rector of Manresa, dies at 79

The priest from Balsareny passes away after five decades of service to the Church in Central Catalonia.

The priest Narcís Riba Codina passed away this Wednesday, February 18, at the age of 79 in Vic, marking the end of a 51-year career in the priesthood.

Born in Balsareny in 1947, Riba held several high-ranking positions within the Diocese of Vic, most notably serving as Vicar General from 2005 to 2009. He was also a canon of the Vic Cathedral and a member of the College of Consultors.
His ministry included significant periods in Manresa, where he was the rector of the Carme parish starting in 1997, as well as roles in Igualada and Sant Joan de Vilatorrada. He was highly regarded for his academic background in Theology and Pedagogy.

The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, February 20, at the parish of Sant Domènec in Vic. Riba had been living in the city's priestly residence since his canonical retirement.
