The CIS data, collected between January 5 and 10, shows that the PSOE would achieve 31.7% of the votes, three tenths more than in December. The PP, led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, rises six tenths to 23% of the estimated vote. This 8.7-point distance is slightly reduced compared to the previous month, but confirms that the socialist setback in the Extremadura elections in December has not had a significant impact at the state level.
Regarding the other parties, Vox also experiences a slight rise of one tenth, standing at 17.7% of the ballots. Conversely, the two forces to the left of the PSOE register notable drops: Sumar loses six tenths and remains at 7.2% of the votes, while Podemos also falls six tenths, to 3.5%.
The distance between the PSOE and the PP has barely narrowed by three tenths, from 9 to 8.7 points, reversing the downward trend with which they closed the previous year.
The fieldwork for the survey coincided with several current affairs topics, such as the debate on the new regional financing system, following the meeting between President Pedro Sánchez and the ERC leader, Oriol Junqueras. Housing measures, the judicial investigation into the DANA in Valencia, and the start of a new wave of violence against women in early January were also discussed.
