The Rodalies commuter rail network in Catalonia is undergoing significant changes this week with the reopening of the R3 line between la Garriga and Ripoll, ahead of major works in Garraf.

Fifty days after the Gelida accident, trains have returned to the R3 section connecting Vallès Oriental and Ripollès. Although service has resumed, trains are operating under speed restrictions as Adif continues emergency repairs at 71 critical points across the network.
In the Bages region, the R4 line remains closed between Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and Martorell, with a scheduled reopening for Monday, March 16. Currently, the connection between Manresa and Terrassa is served by a shuttle train every hour, supplemented by buses.

"We expect nearly half of the speed limitations to be lifted by the end of April."

Starting March 16, maintenance in the Garraf tunnels will force trains onto a single track for three months. This 4-million-euro project will significantly impact the R2 South line and regional services to Tarragona and Tortosa.
