The R4 Commuter line service faces a new week of uncertainty for users in Bages, exactly twenty days after the fatal accident in Gelida that disrupted the entire network. Starting Monday, February 9, circulation will be heavily conditioned by the drivers' strike announced until Wednesday, February 11.
During these three days, Renfe reported that a strike service scenario is established, eliminating the shuttle trains that operated between Manresa and Terrassa. Trains will run the full route between Manresa, Barcelona, Hospitalet, and Martorell Central, but at a much lower frequency.
The minimum services decreed are 66% of the usual circulations during peak hours, and 33% for the rest of the day.
According to information provided by Renfe, this translates into about twenty trains scheduled to depart from Manresa and another twenty to arrive during each of the three affected days. The alternative bus service between Manresa and Terrassa will not operate during the strike.
Simultaneously, stabilization and sanitation work continues on the retaining wall at the Castellbell i el Vilar station, one of the sensitive points detected after the accident. Adif technicians have made significant progress to ensure safety. Starting Thursday, once the strike is over, if speed limitations persist, the plan is to return to the shuttle service and alternative buses between Manresa and Terrassa.
