Young author Robert Canet Torres, from Manresa, premieres today, Friday, January 23, the 69th edition of the traditional Innocentada at the Teatre Conservatori with the play Cossos Sants. El retorn.

The journalism student at the UAB, born in 2004, has taken on the responsibility of writing the quintessential Manresa farce, directed by Jordi Gener. Canet, who previously won the Premi El Galliner for theatrical texts, developed the idea after realizing the general lack of knowledge regarding the origins of the Manresa Festa Major.

"Not even in my best dreams would I have thought that the first production I would premiere would be the Manresa farce par excellence. For me, it is entering through the main door, with great respect, but with much excitement."

The play, Cossos Sants. El retorn, is a chaotic comedy of errors that explores what would happen if Sant Fruitós decided to 'recover' the relics six centuries later. Canet emphasizes that the production “draws from folklore, Manresa traditions, and rivalries with other cities,” aiming to “laugh at ourselves.”
The production will run for six performances over two weekends, starting today, Friday, January 23. The dance troupe, directed by Marta Gros, includes members of the Esbart Manresà de l'ACB. The youngest performers, Mar Guerrero and Adrià Pesarrodona, debut in the farce as the 'cousins' from Barcelona.
