A group of teachers blocked the Vic road in Manresa this Tuesday and fifteen union delegates occupied the Education department offices ahead of Wednesday's strike.

The protesters in the Bages region staged a symbolic funeral with coffins and yellow candles to express their rejection of the agreement between the Generalitat and major unions. They described the deal as a betrayal of public education standards.
Demands presented to the regional director, Saray Gómez, include reducing student-to-teacher ratios and replacing temporary classroom containers, which are widely used in Manresa schools such as Valldaura.
The local action is part of a week-long series of regional strikes across Catalonia, leading up to a major national demonstration in Barcelona scheduled for this Friday.
