The event occurred on April 23, when officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra penitentiary unit were traveling towards Barcelona with a prisoner. A vehicle sped past them and then pulled over to the roadside, flashing its hazard lights to request assistance.
Upon approaching, the driver explained that his partner, who was with him, had gone into labor and they would not make it to the hospital in time. Faced with the urgent situation, the officers requested support from a traffic unit and proceeded to assist the mother with the delivery.
Following the birth, both the mother and the newborn were transported in good health to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu de Manresa. The baby has been named Àreu.
