The intense cold spell caused by Storm Francis generated an exceptional drop in temperatures, concluding with the coldest morning since January 6, 2021. This drop meant that historical stations such as La Quar and Montserrat - Sant Dimes had not registered such low values in 14 years.
Frosts were almost general throughout the territory, except in some coastal areas. Minimum temperatures ranged between -10 and -15 degrees in the Pyrenees valleys. Among the most notable records are Bellver de Cerdanya (-12.7°C), Bolvir (-11.8°C), La Seu d'Urgell (-9.9°C), and Bagà (-9.3°C).
Minimum temperatures ranged between -5 and -10 degrees in much of the interior and pre-coastal areas, and -10 and -15 in the Pyrenees valleys.
In Central Catalonia, temperatures also plummeted considerably. Cardona registered -7.1°C, Solsona -5.6°C, and in Manresa, the capital of Bages, thermometers marked -5.1°C. Following this record day, Protecció Civil has deactivated the intense cold alert, with a recovery to usual values expected starting this Thursday.
