Monistrol de Montserrat is preparing to host the XXXII edition of the Coca i Mató Fair on October 24th and 25th, 2026, a celebration that this year commemorates the 800th anniversary of the royal privilege to hold a market in the town.

The XXXII Coca i Mató Fair will take place in Monistrol de Montserrat on the weekend of October 24th and 25th, 2026. This edition holds special significance as it commemorates the 800th anniversary of the royal privilege to hold a market in the town, granted by Jaume I in 1225, highlighting Monistrol's commercial tradition.
The streets and squares of the old town will be filled with stalls offering gastronomy, music, popular culture, and family activities. The program combines the promotion of local products with the recovery of Monistrol's history and traditions. The fair aims to emphasize the municipality's historical importance as a commercial exchange point.
The fair will begin on Friday, October 23rd, with a preview of the gastronomic area at the Passeig de la Canaleta at 7:30 PM, followed by a musical performance at 8:00 PM. On Saturday the 24th, stalls will open at 10:00 AM, and the official inauguration will be at 12:00 PM in the Plaça de la Font Gran.
The program includes workshops on conscious eating, cooking demonstrations, wine and honey tastings, and concerts at the Passeig de la Canaleta. Children will have their own space in the Jardins de Cal Pla with a playroom, face painting, and workshops for crafts and chocolate lollipops.
One of the new features will be the presentation of en Jacco, a new giant representing a young Italian train driver, promoted by the Associació Cultural de Monistrol de Montserrat. The presentation event will be on Saturday at 5:00 PM at the Montserrat Funicular station, followed by a parade and a show in the Plaça de la Font Gran at 6:20 PM.
There will also be cultural activities, such as a talk by Josep Cunill on Catalan silent cinema at Can Gibert on Saturday at 5:30 PM. The Biblioaccés Municipal will host open house days on Saturday and Sunday.
The Monistrol de Montserrat Town Council expresses its gratitude to the entities, associations, businesses, and volunteers who make the fair possible.
