Twenty 5th and 6th grade primary school children from Sant Fruitós de Bages have formed the new Children's Council for the 2026-2027 academic year in a town hall plenary session.

Around twenty 5th and 6th grade primary school children from the municipality's schools participated in the Constituent Plenary of the Children's Council of Sant Fruitós de Bages for the 2026-2027 academic year. The participants were chosen by their classmates to represent them in the working sessions to be held throughout the year.
The mayor, Joan Carles Batanés, and the Councillor for Education, David Serrano, welcomed the new representatives in the Town Hall's plenary chamber. During the event, the councillors who are now in their first year of secondary school and are leaving their positions shared an activity they prepared related to last year's theme of peace education.
The mayor and the councillor thanked the work carried out over the last two years by the outgoing councillors from Pla del Puig, Monsenyor Gibert, and Paidos schools, as well as Júlia Adan Ribas and Carlota Monrós Martínez for personal reasons.
Following this, the new members of the 2026-2027 Children's Council were welcomed, coming from Pla del Puig School, Monsenyor Gibert School, and Paidos School.
In this first session, the mayor proposed working on sustainable mobility within the municipality, a line of work that was very well received and will be the focus of this year. Additionally, the Children's Council will participate in joint meetings with children's councils from other municipalities in the region to discuss the school model of the future under the theme "School 2100".
The Children's Council will meet periodically to advance proposals. The Town Hall considers this body an essential tool for fostering children's participation and involvement in the municipality's public life.
