The protest actions will begin next Monday in the Riudoms area (Baix Camp) and continue on Thursday in Amposta (Montsià). These territorial mobilizations focus on denouncing the “non-compliance” of the Department of Agriculture regarding the dried fruit sector, particularly hazelnuts.
Regarding the protest scheduled for Thursday in Amposta, the agrarian organization anticipates a potential blockade of the AP-7 highway, with the possibility that this interruption could last up to 48 hours, severely affecting traffic.
In addition to the actions in the regions, Unió de Pagesos will join a unified national protest scheduled to take place in Madrid on February 11. The main objective of this call is to continue showing frontal rejection of the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.
These new mobilizations occur just days after farmers from Revolta Pagesa lifted previous road blockades. This decision followed a meeting with the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, who promised a “common front” to minimize the adverse effects of the pact in Madrid and Brussels.
