The Cambrils City Council held two receptions last Saturday, October 24th, to honor residents turning 65 and 50 years old this year, recognizing their life journeys and contributions to the community.
The Council Chamber of the Cambrils City Council was filled with celebration and camaraderie to welcome residents marking their 65th and 50th birthdays in 2026. In the morning, those born in 1961 were the focus, while in the afternoon, those born in 1976 took center stage. The events unfolded in a festive and relaxed atmosphere, serving as a meeting point for two generations that are integral to the town's life.
Mayor Oliver Klein highlighted the significance of these receptions, emphasizing that the City Council should be a place where citizens feel at home to celebrate special moments. He underscored the bonds connecting the two generations, acknowledging their contributions to Cambrils and celebrating the future together.
“
"There are days when the Council Chamber hosts debates and decisions, and days like this when it fills with memories, laughter, and the desire to celebrate. We are delighted that residents feel the City Council is their home and that we can share such special moments in their lives."
“
"Those of you turning 65 and those turning 50 share much more than a date on the calendar: shared experiences, bonds, and all that you have contributed and continue to contribute to Cambrils. These gatherings are a simple and sincere way to recognize this and to celebrate together all that is yet to come."
The mayor, who also turned 50 in 2026, added a personal touch, expressing his joy in celebrating this milestone with people with whom he shares many memories and common references.
As a token of appreciation, each honoree received a reproduction of a work by artist Josep Piqué Iserte, provided by the Josep Piqué Art Foundation. The pieces include a watercolor of the Cambrils fishing port from 1945 and an oil painting of the port from 1958. The foundation works to promote Piqué's artistic legacy, who always had a special affinity for Cambrils.
Through these two receptions, the City Council aimed to offer a personal recognition to the residents of Cambrils celebrating their anniversaries this year, strengthening the bonds that make Cambrils a community.
