The Cambrils City Council has presented the details of the dismantling of the railway bridge over the Alforja river, which will begin this week and involve a traffic reorganisation heading north.

The integration of the old railway line into the urban fabric of Cambrils continues with the dismantling of the railway bridge over the Alforja river. The works, managed by the Generalitat, will restore the natural ground level, levelling Països Catalans avenue and Joan Baptista de La Salle promenade.
The mayor of Cambrils, Oliver Klein, along with councillors and technicians from the Generalitat, presented the details of the project and traffic impacts to neighbourhood representatives yesterday. The first phase involves dismantling the viaduct platform and columns, as well as the ford on the east side of the river.
Oliver Klein highlighted that the works will provide Cambrils with a modern transport system like the tram and remove an architectural barrier that divided the town centre.
During the works, traffic heading north will be reordered, with a section of Països Catalans avenue closed and several diversions. Subsequently, in a second phase, work will be carried out on the west side, and the La Salle promenade will be closed to traffic.
This renovation will ensure the continuity of the cycle lane and pedestrian walkway, while also eliminating flooding problems in the currently sunken area. The viaduct works are part of an agreement with the Generalitat for the integration of the future tram line.
