The conference, promoted by the Department of Equality Policies on the occasion of November 25th, the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women, aims to enhance public awareness, promote the prevention of gender-based violence, and offer tools for building more egalitarian and respectful relationships. The program includes cultural, educational, community, and support activities for women, targeting different audiences and life stages, resulting from interdepartmental work and collaboration with entities and community agents, with a significant role played by the Consell de Dones de Cambrils (Women's Council of Cambrils).
The mayor of Cambrils, Oliver Klein, emphasized that the fight against gender-based violence requires a permanent institutional commitment and the involvement of all of society, highlighting the work of municipal services such as Social Services, the SIAD (Information and Support Service for Women), the Mossos d’Esquadra, and the Local Police, as well as coordination with the health sector and educational centers.
The Councilor for Equality, Gemma Balanyà, highlighted the interdepartmental and community work, detailing that the SIAD's Psychological Support Service provided 756 visits to 143 women in 2025, while the legal service assisted 90 women, 35% of whom were victims of gender-based violence.
Activities include proposals on sexual violence, such as a session at the Josep Salceda i Castells Library on November 4th, a round table on intimate health on November 13th at the Casal de la Gent Gran (Senior Center), the presentation of the book L’endemà de totes les nits on November 24th, and the screening of the film La Fúria on November 25th at the Rambla de l’Art.
Workshops such as 'Com parlar clar' (How to Speak Clearly) on December 10th at the Library, the family workshop 'M’agradaria educar com em van educar?' (I would like to educate as I was educated?), and support spaces like the 'Fem Pinya' (Let's Stick Together) workshop for vulnerable adult women, led by Mireia Salsench, are also offered.
The institutional event on November 25th at the City Hall will feature a manifesto reading by secondary school students, and Cambrils sports clubs will hold a awareness action with a minute of silence. These conferences reaffirm the City Council's commitment to equality and the prevention of gender-based violence.
