The demonstration, scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, coinciding with European 112 Day, will bring together union representatives from Andalusia, the Valencian Community, and Galicia, in addition to the Reus staff, who have maintained an indefinite strike since August 2023. The protest focuses on demanding labor improvements from the contracting company, Serveo, and the internalization of the service by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The current contract with Serveo ends next March, and a new four-year “transition contract” (two fixed, two extendable) will begin. The Government assures that this new contract will include “substantial quantitative and qualitative improvements,” such as increasing the number of call managers, coordination professionals, and on-call staff for emergencies.
At present, the strike committee continues to hold meetings both with the company, with which negotiations remain 'stalled,' and with the Generalitat.
However, the 112 Reus works council denounces that this new contract will be the “consolidation of labor precariousness” and will tie workers to the telemarketing agreement for four more years.
Regarding the promised internalization, the union representative for 112 in Reus, Martí Vallvé, pointed out that now would be a “good time” to establish a timeline. Currently, between 250 and 300 call managers are external staff, while about forty are already part of the public administration within the CAT112.
