This strategic plan, which is periodically updated, aims to be a significant step forward in technological, environmental, efficiency, quality, and supply guarantee aspects. The initiative includes the revision of the Special Drought Plan and the creation of a master plan for non-potable or reused water, consolidating itself as a fundamental tool for the future of supply networks in Reus.
“"This award reflects the commitment of the City Council and Aigües de Reus to manage water resources efficiently, transparently, and with the best technical quality available on the market."
The company selected for drafting the plan is ABM Serveis d'Enginyeria i Consulting SL, recognized for its extensive experience in the sector. The award has been formalized for an amount of 151,900 euros (VAT excluded).
Among the main objectives of the Water Supply Master Plan is to ensure the quantity and quality of water needed for Reus, while minimizing environmental impact. Specifically, the plan will focus on reducing leaks to improve hydraulic performance and will promote water-saving policies, prioritizing the use of potable water only for essential uses.
Furthermore, the project will integrate the digitalization of the network and data analysis using artificial intelligence to optimize supply management and control. New infrastructures needed for the next ten years and design criteria for their development will also be defined.
The year 2026 is shaping up to be a strategic period for Aigües de Reus and the city's water service, with the definition of various projects and plans that will establish the future management of supply and sanitation. In addition to this plan, the Comprehensive Sanitation System Plan is also being drafted, and solutions for the sanitation of the Bellissens area and the Integrated Freight Center are expected to be addressed, as well as the commissioning of the airport wells and the treatment plant in the Agro-Reus industrial estate.
