The artist Josep Quesada, a key figure in the popular culture of Mont-roig del Camp, passed away this Monday at 48 years old, leaving a legacy defined by mural painting and traditional music.

Born in Mont-roig del Camp in 1977, Quesada graduated in Applied Arts from the EADT in Tarragona. His artistic mark is visible in emblematic sites such as the Mare de Déu de la Roca hermitage, where he painted the interior frescoes, and the Mare de Déu de Montserrat chapel in Vilanova d'Escornalbou.
In the musical field, he stood out as a player of the 'sac de gemecs' (Catalan bagpipes) and the hurdy-gurdy. He was a co-founder of Kobla d'en Taudell, a folk group with over twenty years of activity, and an active member of the Sons de la Cossetània association in Tarragona.
His passion for folklore led him to promote the revival of the Ball de Dames i Vells in his hometown ten years ago. Beyond his work as a craftsman of traditional drums and nativity scenes, he was part of the MontArt artists' collective, where he was renowned for his wit and satirical verses.
