The Cambrils City Council has approved a 846,315 euro investment to replace the artificial turf at pitches 2 and 3 of the municipal sports area this March.

The project involves installing next-generation synthetic grass with an elastic base for better shock absorption. The renovation also includes new goalposts, benches, and ball-stop netting, alongside an upgraded irrigation system.
Funding includes a 305,000 euro grant from the Consell Català de l'Esport. The current turf, which is 18 years old, had reached the end of its functional life. The works are expected to take between five and eight weeks per pitch.
This initiative is part of the 2026 Investment Plan, a 2.6 million euro program that also features solar panel installations and a new BikePark in the western district.
