The municipal government launched a public tender in January for the allocation of licenses for 18 establishments along the coast. Of these, 15 have already been awarded, and an additional beach bar, located in front of the Hotel Centurión in Vilafortuny, retains its valid permit until 2027.
Three of the offered licenses remained vacant: one on Ardiaca beach (near Fragata street), another on Llosa beach (opposite the green area of Gladiols street), and a third on Prat d'en Forés beach (Beethoven avenue). Initially, it was considered to re-offer them this year, but the decision has been made to postpone it until 2027, when the license for the beach bar at Hotel Centurión will also be put out to tender.
“"All of them have already been awarded and, for the most part, the contracts are done, with the first year's fee paid and the 'ok' to set up."
The distribution of beach bars for this season includes two on Ardiaca beach, two on Llosa beach, one in Horta de Santa Maria, three on Prat d'en Forés beach, one on Cavet beach, two on Esquirol beach, and five on Vilafortuny beach. Notably, the beach huts at Cap de Sant Pere have not been offered this year.
The new 15 permits authorize their holders to operate the beach bars from 2026 to 2029. The establishments range in size from 100 to 140 square meters. The tender received over 70 bids, with fees starting from 18,000 euros. The lowest fee awarded was 19,000 euros, while the highest, for a beach bar located next to the Club Nàutic, reached 58,300 euros annually.
The format of the beach bars, which was renewed in 2021 and 2022, remains consistent with some adjustments to waste bin locations. The regulation requiring prior authorization for musical performances will continue to apply, with a maximum duration of two hours and adherence to established acoustic limits.
