The Parliament of Catalonia has been the setting for a debate on the critical situation of the railway system in the Terres de l'Ebre, with a Republican deputy questioning the Minister of Territory.

During the plenary session, a Republican representative questioned the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, to address the deficiencies of the train service in the Terres de l'Ebre. The intervention highlighted the need for concrete actions to ensure a dignified railway service in the area.
The deputy denounced that the current system does not guarantee either equal opportunities or territorial equity, as the train does not represent a real mobility option for residents of the Terres de l'Ebre due to accumulated structural deficits.

"The right to mobility must be guaranteed throughout the country, regardless of where you live. Therefore, the Terres de l'Ebre do not demand privileges. We demand guarantees of having a railway service that is truly an alternative, and does not penalize the territory, contributing to the cohesion of the country."

Given the closure of the R15 section between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Reus, which has been without passenger service for three months, ADIF was urged to provide transparency, information, and data on the reopening of the line and the investments made. The uncertainty and ineffectiveness of the alternative bus transport plan were key points of criticism.
Measures were proposed to improve the service, including the recovery and improvement of the reliability of the R15 line, the incorporation of a semi-direct train between Tarragona and Barcelona, and the study of a shuttle service with Ferrocarrils de Catalunya between Riba-roja and Reus, following the formula suggested by the commissioner for the Integral Transfer of Rodalies.
Regarding the R16, an additional daily Avant service from Tortosa to Barcelona in both directions was requested, the reinstatement of two semi-direct regional trains to Barcelona that existed before the Barà works, and two daily stops for the Euromed at Aldea station.
