The Banc de Sang i Teixits (Blood and Tissue Bank) has launched its annual blood donation campaign across Catalonia, aiming to exceed 10.000 donations between January 8 and January 17.

The initiative, running from Thursday, January 8, until next Saturday, January 17, comes at a crucial time, as reserves are typically low following the Christmas holidays. The organization is calling on the general public to ensure the necessary supplies are guaranteed.
Regarding the capital of Baix Camp, the Hospital Universitari Sant Joan in Reus has actively joined the marathon. Citizens can now reserve appointments in advance for the donation of both blood and plasma, thereby facilitating local participation in this vital campaign.

During 2026, more than 70,000 people in Catalonia will require blood for medical treatments or surgical procedures.

The organization stresses the importance of continuous participation, especially after noting a slight decrease in donations last year. 2025 concluded with 31,800 donations, a figure lower than the 32,000 registered during 2024.
