Next weekend, from June 5th to 7th, the Costa Daurada and Terres de l'Ebre will host 'The Genius Weekend', an event organized by the Costa Daurada Tourism Board and the member municipalities of the Landscape of Geniuses. This initiative aims to establish itself as an annual event, offering a diverse program of recreational and cultural activities for families.
Activities will take place simultaneously in five key municipalities: Reus, Riudoms, Mont-roig del Camp, el Vendrell, and Horta de Sant Joan. The program includes around twenty proposals that connect with the lives and works of universal artists such as Antoni Gaudí, Joan Miró, Pau Casals, and Pablo Picasso. Offerings include guided tours, workshops, discovery games, and exhibitions.
One of the notable new features will be the premiere of the itinerant theatrical activity 'The Geniuses' Work is Sick', which challenges the public to find an antidote. All activities are free but require prior registration due to limited capacity.
“"An invitation to rediscover our territory and, this year, it takes on a special meaning for Reus within the framework of Gaudí Year 2026. A commemoration that offers us a new opportunity to highlight the architect's legacy."
The event presentation took place at the Gaudí Centre in Reus, coinciding with Gaudí Year 2026. The Mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, emphasized the initiative's importance in showcasing the artists' legacy. The President of the Provincial Council, Noemí Llauradó, reaffirmed the council's support for the Landscape of Geniuses, highlighting its artistic, cultural, landscape, and gastronomic relevance. Meanwhile, the president of the Tarragona Provincial Council's Tourism Board, Enric Adell, stressed the route's transversal and powerful appeal.
The Landscape of Geniuses, which incorporated Riudoms in January 2026, features five interpretive routes and six museums and cultural centers. These spaces highlight the artists' connection with the landscapes of the Costa Daurada and Terres de l'Ebre. The centers include the Gaudí Centre in Reus, Mas Miró in Mont-roig, the Casa Nadiua and Museu Pau Casals in el Vendrell, the Centre Picasso in Horta de Sant Joan, and the Casa Pairal Gaudí in Riudoms. The project began on July 13, 2010, with the support of the Tarragona Provincial Council's Tourism Board.
