Between May 1 and 3, young people from across Catalonia participated in this annual initiative, which aims to strengthen personal faith through community life, contact with nature, and individual prayer. This year's edition held special significance as it coincided with the twentieth anniversary of Catholic scouting in the region.
For three days, members of the red branch (over 17 years old) and other young people linked to ecclesial realities intensely lived their faith. The experience was based on the route, immersion in nature, the celebration of sacraments, communal living, and formation, all fundamental elements of the scout method.
The route began on Friday, May 1, coinciding with Saint Joseph the Worker, with a Eucharist at the hermitage Santuari de la Mare de Déu de l'Abellera, located in the town of Prades. During this celebration, presided over by the national chaplain of the movement, the importance of perseverance in faith through prayer and service to others was emphasized.
Participants, organized into teams, embarked on two different routes of approximately 15 kilometers daily from the sanctuary, allowing them to enjoy the landscapes of the Muntanyes de Prades. Along the way, activities such as cooking, individual prayer, reciting the rosary, and sharing moments of camaraderie were carried out. Upon reaching the campsites, they attended educational talks on transmitting the values of leisure education.
Friday's activities culminated with a festive evening, filled with songs, performances, and games, dedicated to the figure of Guy de Larigaudie, a French writer and scout, as an example of hope. The next day, after the Eucharist, the teams headed to the Royal Monastery of Poblet, where they were welcomed by a Cistercian monk who showed them the abbey and shared his testimony of monastic life, based on work and contemplation, values akin to Catholic scouting. The evening included a vigil of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Sunday began with the celebration of Lauds and Holy Mass with the monastic community of Poblet. Subsequently, several members made their Scout Promise, committing to serve God, the Church, and their neighbor, while others received the yellow ribbon as a step in their scout progression. The gathering concluded with a fraternal meal, which served to celebrate 20 years of the presence of Guides and Scouts of Europe in Catalonia.
