Emergency dispatchers at 061 Salut Respon in Reus have called for an indefinite strike starting this Saturday to demand the internalization of the service and better working conditions.

The protest involves nearly 100 employees operating from the 112 building in Reus. This action follows the strike started last week in Barcelona. The collective denounces that they are still under telemarketing contracts despite their essential role in the SEM healthcare system.

"In 2021 they committed to internalizing the service, which allowed the strike to be called off, but that commitment has become a dead letter."

According to unions, workers have lost 7.6% in purchasing power since 2021. The service is currently managed by Serveo, but the contract expires in January 2027. Staff fear the Generalitat will opt for another private tender instead of direct public management.
The Medical Emergency System (SEM) stated that minimum services are guaranteed at 85%. This conflict mirrors the situation of 112 workers, also based in Reus, who have been protesting for public management since 2023.
