The Junts per Reus municipal group will present a motion this Friday at the Reus City Council plenary session, proposing a series of tax incentives to revitalize the city's commercial sector.

The main proposal is the Zero Activity License, which would grant a 100% tax exemption for new business openings during 2026 and 2027. The plan also includes direct grants for businesses moving to ground-floor premises and tax moratoriums to support generational succession in historic shops within the Baix Camp region.

"Reus has historically been a commercial benchmark in Catalonia, but we cannot live on past reputation or complacency."

Additionally, Junts is demanding a new municipal land-use plan to regulate commercial saturation and a 95% discount on construction taxes (ICIO) for renovating premises that have been vacant for over a year. They also call for an external audit of the Christmas campaign's economic return to replace the current Reus Espais Vius program.
