The event, organized by the Catalan Cycling Federation in collaboration with the Sports Area of the Vandellòs i l’Hospitalet de l’Infant City Council and Bikeparks Costa Daurada, will take place at the pumptrack on Antoni Tàpies street, in the Corralets area. Cyclists of all categories are expected to participate, from pre-benjamins to masters, including several Catalan champions.
Pumptrack involves completing a circuit with berms, jumps, and other obstacles in the shortest possible time. Referees from the Catalan Cycling Federation will install sensors to accurately record each participant's times. One of the unique features is the 'hot seat,' where the rider with the provisional best time remains until another participant surpasses their mark.
The day will begin at 9 am with training sessions. At 10 am, local children and young people who are not federated will have the opportunity to ride the circuit for free. Following this, the races for the children's categories will commence, with two heats to achieve their best time. The awards ceremony for the children's categories is scheduled for 11:15 am.
Subsequently, the competition will resume with two timed heats for the senior categories, from children to elite and masters. The day will conclude with another awards ceremony, scheduled for 1:30 pm. All participants in the pre-benjamin and benjamin categories will receive a medal, while in the other categories, medals will be awarded to the top three finishers. Several prize draws will also be held among participants.
This was explained by Yolanda Marqués, the Councilor for Sports, who added that the competition highlights the municipality's sports facilities and invites everyone to enjoy a sporting day with participants of all ages.
