The Thyme Festival, one of the most emblematic events in Prades' festive calendar, is now ready for its celebration. From May 30 to June 7, the town's streets will be transformed with floral decorations, offering a wide range of cultural, musical, and traditional activities.
This year's program includes a craft market, thyme tea tasting with honey, traditional craft demonstrations, children's workshops, musical performances, and painting contests, among other family-friendly offerings.
The official inauguration will be on Saturday, May 30, with the presence of the President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Josep Rull. The day will also feature the Prades Camunbike event, music by the Ho Peta Street Band, children's games, a DJ set, and a concert by the Coral Flor de Lis de Montblanc.
Sunday, May 31, will be marked by the XVI Rapid Painting Contest, the X Children's Rapid Painting Contest, various workshops, urban dance, musical entertainment, and the award ceremony for the painting and floral decoration contests.
Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy the streets adorned with creativity by volunteers and participants, key elements that attract thousands of people each year.
The festival originated in 1970, promoted by Josep Callau, owner of the restaurant 'El Racó d’en Manelic', with the aim of attracting visitors and showcasing the climate, landscapes, and aroma of the aromatic plants of the mountains. Over time, the popular gathering evolved to include facade decoration, flower carpets, tastings, and sardana gatherings. The Prades Town Council took over the management of the festival in 1975, promoting the decoration of emblematic spaces with thyme.
