The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, has informed the government team of the EMD of Sucs that the plot on Carrer Mestre has been registered in the Generalitat's public land reserve for the construction of 28 affordable rental homes. The project awaits the resolution of the call for applications.
This information was shared during a working meeting between Larrosa and the president of the EMD, Guillem Boneu, accompanied by members of the government team. Several strategic projects for the village's future were discussed, including the proposal that the EMD will present to the Generalitat's Plan de Pobles 2026-2030.
This aid plan, aimed at promoting territorial cohesion and the revitalization of rural areas, will include the rehabilitation and improvement of the urban center, the recovery of the medieval Sant Miquel church, a historical heritage site of Sucs, and actions to enhance the energy efficiency of municipal facilities.
Progress was also made on discussions with financial institutions to facilitate the installation of ATMs in the village. Additionally, urban improvements such as the creation of safe pedestrian routes, sidewalk renovations, and the renewal of public lighting were addressed, as part of the Paeria's energy-saving plan. Currently, the 318 existing light points in the village are being replaced with LED technology, of which 57 have already been renewed.
For his part, Guillem Boneu presented the projects planned for next year, including the air conditioning of the Escola El Vilot and the social center.
The institutional visit also included the official renaming of Carrer de la Fusteria. The initiative, promoted by resident Joan Rius Altisent and approved by the Special Commission for Streets of the Lleida City Council, recognizes the tradition of trades and the trajectory of the Rius family, who opened the first carpentry workshop in the village in 1965.
Larrosa emphasized that "naming streets after trades or commercial spaces that represent lifelong professions is an act that, beyond its emotional value, recognizes a professional activity." Boneu added that the officialization coincides with improvements on this street, which will also house the headquarters of the Sindicat de Regs de Sucs in the future.
The meeting concluded with a meeting with representatives of the Sindicat de Regs de Sucs to learn about their future projects and needs.
