Around 300 people gathered this Sunday in Montbrió del Camp to protest against a proposed wind farm project located between the municipalities of Montbrió and Riudecanyes.

Organized by the Aturem els Molins platform, eight simultaneous marches arrived from neighboring towns including Cambrils and Riudoms. Protesters argue that the six planned turbines would cause 'unbearable' damage to the local agricultural landscape and traditional way of life in the Baix Camp region.

"We want an energy transition that is fair, at the service of people, and that does not sacrifice food sovereignty."

The project has already faced a setback with a negative report from the Territorial Urban Planning Commission in February. Local mayors and agricultural unions like Unió de Pagesos have joined the opposition, submitting over 2,500 formal objections to the Generalitat de Catalunya.
