Reus Airport will introduce a new direct air connection to the city of Porto, Portugal, during the summer season. This initiative, aimed at facilitating the arrival of Portuguese tourists to the Costa Daurada, will feature a total of twenty charter flights operated by tour operator Soltour between June and September.
The announcement was made during a promotional workshop in Porto, jointly organized by the Tourism Boards of the Provincial Council of Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils, and Vila-seca-La Pineda, along with the Business Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of the province of Tarragona (FEHT). The event served to present the Costa Daurada's tourist offerings to Portuguese sector professionals.
This new route represents a significant boost to the destination's promotion strategy in the Portuguese market, which has shown notable growth in recent years. Overnight stay data reflects this trend, with an projected increase of 76% for 2025 compared to 2022 figures, rising from 121,693 stays to 213,985.
Representatives from Soltour highlighted during the presentation that this operation can contribute to increasing tourist flows between Porto and the Costa Daurada, particularly during the summer months.
The workshop, held at the Sheraton Porto Hotel, brought together over seventy travel agents and representatives from Portuguese agencies interested in the destination's novelties for the 2026 season. Local tourism companies and entities also participated, including hotels, operators, leisure companies, and attractions like PortAventura World. The main proposals from Salou, Cambrils, and Vila-seca-La Pineda were presented, along with the accommodation, gastronomy, and family, sports, and leisure activities offered by the Costa Daurada.
