Reus' Bassa Nova, a recently restored heritage site within the Boca de la Mina area, will host a festive day on Easter Monday, April 6th, featuring recreational activities, music, and gastronomy to celebrate the traditional 'mona'.

Between 12 PM and 5 PM, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including piloting remote-controlled boats at the recreational dock. Musical entertainment will be provided by a DJ, and tables and chairs will be set up for attendees' comfort. A food truck service will offer tapas, hamburgers, and drinks, among other gastronomic options.
This initiative, promoted by the Reus City Council through the Department of Citizen Relations and Aigües de Reus, represents another step in highlighting this 19th-century infrastructure. The Bassa Nova, originally intended for water storage and distribution, is being consolidated as a meeting point and place of enjoyment for citizens, recovering its historical social function.

"Aigües de Reus remains committed to the municipal project of recovery and socialization of the Boca de la Mina and its surroundings, understanding that water is not only life, but also a sentimental history closely linked to the city."

Daniel Rubio · Councillor for Environment, Sustainability and Public Roads
The restoration of the Bassa Nova is part of a comprehensive improvement project for the Boca de la Mina area, which has included landscaping, the construction of brick grandstands, and the improvement of the path connecting the promenade with the Camí de la Pedrera de Còbic. Since water flows again, sourced from the Hidrofòrica mine and the recently recovered Almoster mine, the space offers new recreational possibilities, including a children's play area and resting spots.

"The recovery of a tradition that speaks of who we are as a city. Going to eat the 'mona' in the Bassa area is not just a festive custom; it is a moment of gathering, of coexistence, of time with family, friends, and neighbors, and that is why we encourage everyone to join in."

Mar Escoda · Councillor for Citizen Relations
This project aligns with one of Aigües de Reus' priorities: the recovery and regeneration of the municipal mines and aquifers to promote the consumption of local water, strengthening the city's historical and sentimental bond with its water resources.
