The Avis i Àvies per la Llibertat collective in Reus reached a milestone this March, completing 100 months of daily demonstrations at the Mercadal Square.

Since its inception with only sixteen members, the group has met every day at noon to walk three laps around the main square of Reus. Their persistence has made them a local symbol of the independence movement, maintaining a steady presence of 30 to 40 people daily despite the passage of time and health challenges.

"The return of the exiles is our great demand."

The group's current focus is the return of Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comín. They have revealed a symbolic agreement with Puigdemont: the protests will officially end only when he returns and joins them for the traditional three laps around the square, a promise they say he has personally made to the collective.
Beyond the political goals, the members highlight the strong personal bonds formed over the last eight years. For many, these daily meetings in the Baix Camp capital are a continuation of the social and labor activism they participated in during their youth in the 1960s and 70s.
