From June 5th to 7th, Reus, Riudoms, Mont-roig del Camp, El Vendrell, and Horta de Sant Joan will transform into stages to pay tribute to four pivotal cultural figures: Antoni Gaudí, Joan Miró, Pau Casals, and Pablo Picasso, through the initiative 'The Brilliant Weekend'.

This initiative, part of the 'Landscape of Geniuses' project, will offer around twenty free activities, requiring prior registration, designed for families. The aim is to solidify the Costa Daurada and Terres de l'Ebre as key destinations for cultural and heritage tourism.
Driven by the Tourism Board of the Diputació de Tarragona and the municipalities with historical connections to the artists –Reus and Riudoms with Gaudí, Mont-roig del Camp with Miró, El Vendrell with Pau Casals, and Horta de Sant Joan with Pablo Picasso–, the weekend will allow for "discovering and rediscovering" the life and work of these geniuses, as well as the territory that inspired their creation.
Among the highlighted activities is the premiere of the theatrical play 'The Geniuses' Work is Sick. Will the intellectual Francesc Pujol find the antidote for its cure?', by playwright Antoni Veciana. This piece will be performed itinerantly across all participating municipalities throughout the weekend.
The president of the Diputació de Tarragona, Noemí Llauradó, emphasized the importance of such initiatives for "decentralizing and de-seasonalizing" tourism. Meanwhile, the president of the Tourism Board, Enric Adell, highlighted the commitment to a "global vision" for the Costa Daurada and Terres de l'Ebre tourism brands, promoting culture, heritage, and tradition. Eurecat consultant, Eva Martínez, added that 'The Brilliant Weekend' is born with a "vocation for continuity" and is expected to be celebrated annually.
The event's presentation, held at the Gaudí Centre in Reus as part of the Gaudí Year, was attended by various municipal representatives, including the mayors of Mont-roig del Camp, Fran Morancho; El Vendrell, Kenneth Martínez; and Horta de Sant Joan, Jordi Martín, as well as council members from other participating municipalities.
The 'Landscape of Geniuses' project, which will include Riudoms from January 2026, already features five interpretive routes and six museums and cultural centers, such as the Gaudí Centre in Reus, the Mas Miró in Mont-roig, the Casa Nadiua and Museu Pau Casals in El Vendrell, the Centre Picasso in Horta de Sant Joan, and the Casa Pairal Gaudí in Riudoms. This project officially began on July 13, 2010, with the signing of a territorial collaboration agreement, and a communication plan was initiated in 2024.
