The Reus City Council has restored normal traffic flow on President Macià Avenue this Tuesday, removing bollards that had restricted the road to a single lane.

The measure, described by local authorities as a technical error, was part of a pilot project for the urban redevelopment of the Carrilet Market area. However, the lack of prior notice to residents and the resulting traffic congestion led to its immediate withdrawal.

"If this was a pilot test, the result has been disastrous and proves that removing a lane right now is unfeasible."

Local neighborhood associations in the Baix Camp capital reported that traffic jams reached the Canal roundabout, blocking emergency vehicles. The council will now evaluate whether to attempt the test again in the future with proper communication.
