The capital of Baix Camp will set up a large observation point next to the Parc de la Festa, which will include family activities and services. This astronomical event, scheduled for August 12, places Reus among the 20 Catalan municipalities identified by the Generalitat de Catalunya as recommended observation sites.
The Parc de la Festa area will centralize all services and activities, offering restrooms, food trucks, and educational proposals for all ages. Anticipating a high influx of visitors, the Reus City Council has urged adherence to safety and mobility guidelines, and a staggered departure to prevent traffic congestion.
The program, promoted in collaboration with the Rovira i Virgili University, includes informative, cultural, and educational activities. These are supported by the Diputació de Tarragona and the Generalitat de Catalunya. Among the proposals, the conference
“"May nothing eclipse you!"
scheduled for May 11 at FiraReus Events, focuses on the eclipse and scientific vocations.
Other activities include two days of conferences with researchers and astrophysicists from the URV on June 10 and 17, exhibitions, film screenings, astronomical photography workshops, and educational sessions in city schools. In the educational field, talks such as
“"When the sun hides: the secret of eclipses"
will be held at La Vitxeta and Col·legi Sant Josep educational centers.
The program also extends to International Museum Day, with the Reus Museum hosting the photographic exhibition Under the same sky, by Jesús Maria Flores García, dedicated to night landscapes. Additionally, there will be conferences such as
“"The eclipse of the century"
open-air cinema sessions featuring the films Gravity and Apollo XIII, technical conferences, practical workshops, and family activities like the Bubble Planetarium. The Xavier Amorós Central Library also joins with activities such as
Wine, glosa, and stars
talks on astronomy, an inflatable children's planetarium, and a thematic bibliographic display.
