Official stations from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya and AEMET confirm that Reus surpassed 40 degrees on July 8th and 9th, setting record temperatures.

The extreme temperatures recorded on July 8th and 9th in Reus have set a new historical record. The meteorological station at Reus Airport reached 40.3°C on July 8th at 2 PM, while the one at the Centre de Lectura registered 39.3°C shortly before 1 PM on the same day.
This week's heatwave has been characterized by breaking records. Despite the influence of the sea breeze in the pre-coastal areas, which kept temperatures moderate in towns like Cambrils or Miami Platja (between 31°C and 34°C), the inland areas of Baix Camp and Priorat have experienced very intense heat episodes.
In municipalities like Alforja, near the capital of Baix Camp, temperatures hovered around 40°C. In the interior of Priorat, locations such as Falset or Cornudella de Montsant widely surpassed 38°C, approaching 40°C in lower-lying sectors.
In contrast, in mountainous areas like Prades, situated over 900 meters above sea level, the maximum temperatures remained around 29-31°C, almost ten degrees less than in the plains, thanks to the altitude and cooler nights.
