From August 27th to 31st, Matadepera will present an extensive program featuring nearly fifty activities planned for all age groups. The festival will combine elements of popular culture, concerts, family activities, sports, shows, and traditions, including some new additions.
Mayor Guillem Montagut highlighted the importance of this event as a moment for reunion and community celebration. "It's time to reconnect, to enjoy with family and friends, and to celebrate what unites us," he stated, expressing pride in the active participation of the citizens who keep the town's spirit alive.
The festival will kick off on Thursday, August 27th, with the traditional Corre-Tapes (Tapas Run) in Plaça Sant Jordi at 8:30 PM, accompanied by the Sant Pere batucada (drumming group). Later that evening, at 11:00 PM, the band Trinxats Rural Punk will perform at Plaça de Cal Baldiró.
On Friday, August 28th, the festivities will begin with the ringing of bells and the opening speech at the Town Hall facade by Emi, former head of the municipal brigade. The day will continue with a grand firecracker display, a parade to mark the start of the festival, the award ceremony for the 4 Canyes cycling event, a communal dinner, and a concert of traditional Catalan sea shanties (havaneres) at Bosquet Park featuring groups Mariners de Riera and Arjau.
Saturday, August 29th, will feature a gathering of classic and vintage vehicles, giant puppet workshops, a 'vermut' concert by the Matadepera band, a sardana dance performance, and the Festa Jove (Youth Festival). Sunday, August 30th, will see the return of some of the most traditional and anticipated events, including the 'planta de Gegants' (giant puppet display) and the Cercavila Major (main parade), which will include the Matadepera Band and invited groups.
The final day, Monday, August 31st, will host various notable events such as concerts by Llobregat i els Melt, the Festa Major Ice Cream Social, and the Foam Party. The grand finale will be a pyromusical show at 10:00 PM, which will illuminate Matadepera's sky and mark the end of the festival.
