The Riudecanyes reservoir, located in Baix Camp, reached 99.3% capacity this Monday, January 26, forcing the Community of Irrigators to alert CECAT regarding an imminent overflow.

The reservoir in Baix Camp has seen a spectacular increase in just ten days, rising from 52% to the current 99.3% thanks to the intense rainfall across the Camp de Tarragona region. The water level has reached 219.30 meters, very close to the maximum of 219.50 meters.
The Community of Irrigators notified CECAT (Catalonia's Operational Coordination Center) of the possibility of overflow in the coming hours if the inflow of water continues.

For this reason, the irrigators requested that municipalities located downstream, such as Riudecanyes, Montbrió del Camp, Cambrils, and Mont-roig del Camp, be warned to close low points and access routes to the riverbed.
The Riudecanyes Town Hall has already issued a decree advising the population not to approach the riverbed or low-lying areas, and has declared all fords and flood zones closed due to a possible sudden increase in flow, potentially exacerbated by the effect of wind-generated waves.
