Solidarity dinner for cardiovascular research in Salou.

The Hotel Olympus Palace 4 in Salou will host a solidarity dinner on Thursday, October 1st, at the SUMMIT rooftop to raise funds for cardiovascular research at IRB CatSud, conducted at Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona.

The initiative, driven by the Hotel Olympus Palace with support from local entities, aims to raise awareness for cardiovascular disease prevention and support scientific research. Proceeds will go to the Catalunya Sud Biomedical Research Institute (IRB CatSud), contributing to the INVESCART group's projects.
During the presentation, Gil Cristià, representing the hotel's ownership, stated that "the heart located in front of the hotel and on the Salou promenade symbolizes the heartbeat for which we join forces this 2026". He also highlighted the dinner's poster, created by students from the Tarragona School of Art and Design.
Dr. José Luis Ferreiro, Head of Cardiology at Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona, explained the significance of research in technologically advanced hospitals and expressed gratitude for the support in consolidating and developing new projects.
Dr. Joan Vendrell, director of IRB CatSud, emphasized that "through research, especially research closely linked to the territory, we improve, for example, patient care", highlighting the impact of such initiatives on the population's quality of life.
Other involved entities include the Rotary Club Tarragona and the Salou City Council. Esther Fernández, vice-president of the Rotary Club Tarragona, pledged full support and promotion for the cause. The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, praised the initiative's spirit of solidarity, "linked to the heart of the people, the heart of Salou, and beneficial for the region".
This marks the sixth solidarity dinner organized by the hotel since 2019, with previous events supporting causes like cancer, autism, and Alzheimer's. The 2025 edition raised 16,190 euros for the International Solidarity Sports Foundation (ESI).
The event will take place on Thursday, October 1st, at 7 PM, at the SUMMIT rooftop of the Hotel Olympus Palace 4. The participation fee is 60 euros per person, with a "fila zero" (zero row) option for additional contributions. A cocktail dinner with surprises and raffles is anticipated.
