The Hotel Olympus Palace in Salou has successfully raised over €55,000 at the 'Cor Batega' charity dinner, held on Thursday, October 22nd, to support cardiovascular disease research at the Catalunya Sud Biomedical Research Institute (IRB CatSud) and the INVESCART group at Joan XXIII University Hospital.

The solidarity initiative, recently postponed due to a weather alert, brought together hundreds of people committed to health. Gil Cristià, representing the hotel's ownership, highlighted the fundraising success, exceeding initial expectations and demonstrating public willingness to support the cause.
The director of IRB CatSud, Joan Vendrell, thanked the hotel and participants for their commitment, emphasizing the importance of raising public awareness about biomedical research. He stressed that cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of mortality and that societal support is crucial for advancing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
José Luis Ferreiro, head of the Cardiology Unit at Joan XXIII University Hospital, underscored the value of research in improving patient care, aiming to better understand individual differences for more precise and personalized cardiology.
The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, also attended the event, highlighting the initiative's social value and the municipality's commitment to solidarity.
The evening featured a reading of the story La festa dels mil batecs by Laia Monguió, musical performances, an auction of a work by artist Myriam Arnol, and a raffle with prizes donated by collaborators.
