We are very satisfied because the Can Sant Joan neighborhood will finally recover the medical attention it had before Dr. Anaya's retirement. It is a much-anticipated piece of news that addresses a neighborhood need and a demand we have advocated for from the City Council. I want to especially acknowledge the persistence and involvement of the residents and local organizations who have worked to ensure the continuity of this service. From the outset, we have argued that Can Sant Joan needs public, stable, and local healthcare, and we will continue to ensure this.

The municipal dispensary of Can Sant Joan in Montcada i Reixac will resume its usual medical attention from November 2nd, with four days of in-person consultation and one day of weekly home care.
The City Council of Montcada i Reixac has welcomed the announcement from CatSalut confirming the restoration of usual medical services at the Can Sant Joan dispensary. This measure, effective from November 2nd, includes four days of in-person consultation and one day of weekly home care for both the doctor and the nursing professional.
Since Dr. Anaya's retirement in December 2025, the dispensary had operated with a temporary reorganization, concentrating medical consultations into two days per week. The new coverage will allow for an increase in available appointments and strengthen proximity healthcare in the neighborhood.
The City Council views this decision as a response to a community demand and a significant step towards restoring an essential health service. The previous reduction in coverage had caused concern and led to neighborhood mobilizations.
The service restoration follows months of community demands and institutional efforts, including support from the Can Sant Joan Residents' Association and the Health Table, and a motion approved by the City Council in March 2026.
The Councilor for Social Services, Inclusion, and Health, Anabel Moreno, highlighted the importance of the restored care model, particularly for the elderly and those with mobility challenges, and assured continued work to guarantee the service's quality and stability.
