Towns in the Baix Camp region are accumulating complaints about repeated power outages during the summer, affecting municipalities like l’Aleixar, Maspujols, and Vilaplana. Endesa explains that the Alfa Plan may extend ocular inspections before restoring service.

Several municipalities in the Baix Camp region have expressed their discontent over continuous power outages that have occurred in recent months. L’Aleixar, Maspujols, and Vilaplana are among the towns affected by these interruptions in electricity supply, which, although not excessively long, are causing concern among residents due to the lack of information regarding service restoration.
The mayors of these municipalities have conveyed their complaints to both Endesa, the responsible distribution company, and the competent authorities. They are requesting improved information for the town councils during incidents and warn that these outages have become a recurring problem affecting the daily functioning of the towns.
The situation is framed within forest fire prevention measures, particularly with the Alfa Plan activated. According to Endesa sources, when an incident occurs on a line affected by this plan, service reconnection is not always automatic. The company must conduct a prior visual inspection to ensure safety before reactivating the supply, which can extend the duration of the outages.
The mayor of Vilaplana, Josep Bigorra, estimates that his municipality has suffered three power outages since July, with episodes resolved within half an hour. In l’Aleixar, Mayor Pitu Biosca confirms the recurrence of these outages, which typically affect the same line serving several towns in the region. In addition to the inconvenience, material damages have been reported, such as the motherboard of an elevator at the Vilaplana town hall.
Both Bigorra and Biosca agree in highlighting the lack of information as a primary issue. They call for more fluid communication from the distributor, as residents often do not know the expected duration of the outages. In some cases, power cuts also affect communications, hindering coordination between the town councils and the company.
The mayors regret that the outages occur without coinciding with adverse weather conditions, suggesting potential network maintenance issues. While understanding the safety measures of the Alfa Plan, they advocate for prioritizing the modernization of existing electrical infrastructure to ensure the daily operation of the municipalities.
