The Court of Tarragona has sentenced three brothers from a local family clan to eight years in prison for their role in a shootout in Reus on January 17, 2024.

The defendants received six years for attempted murder and two years for illegal possession of firearms. The incident took place in the Sant Josep Obrer district, specifically on Mas Pellicer street, during a violent confrontation between rival groups.
Two other individuals from the opposing group were acquitted due to insufficient evidence. Although the Prosecution sought sentences of up to 32 years, the judges ruled that witness identifications were unreliable as the attackers were reportedly wearing hoods.

"The identification of these suspects does not offer enough guarantees for a conviction."

Police searches uncovered an arsenal of weapons and ammunition in one of the homes. Forensic evidence confirmed that at least four of the seized firearms were used during the confrontation. The court validated the police operation as necessary and proportionate.
