The Fair, taking place from October 22 to 25, aims to showcase the municipality's commercial, associative, and entrepreneurial activity. The streets of the old town will be decorated to host this long-standing event, which this year focuses on Gaudí, local projects, and intergenerational activities.
The opening ceremony, on Friday, October 23 in the afternoon at the Castell auditorium, will include a speech titled “Antoni Gaudí, architecte del Camp de Tarragona”. The address will be given by local resident Armand Puig i Tàrrech, a priest and Gaudí biographer, accompanied by Tate Cabré i Massot, a Doctor of Journalism, who will discuss the relationship of local figures with the architect.
Mayor Enric Roberto highlights that the Fair is "a prime example of the entrepreneurial capacity and drive of the people who have grown the society of La Selva del Camp", using the event to showcase progress achieved and reaffirm the commitment to continue moving forward.
To offer a new experience, the event has redesigned parts of its route. The Espai Lúdic (Leisure Space) has been created in the Ponts area, aimed at families with workshops and traditional games. The Espai Gastronòmic (Gastronomic Space) is centralized in the Pletes square, featuring Tarragona restaurants like Arcs and Llagut, local wineries, and craft beers.
Major street will serve as the backbone with stalls from merchants and displays of traditional crafts. In Major square, there will be local cooperatives, artisanal projects, and the Town Hall stand for voting on participatory budgets. Sant Andreu square will host local associations, and the cemetery parking area will feature fairground attractions and a new food truck zone.
The Espai Professional (Professional Space), organized by the agency Gala Stories, will kick off on Thursday, October 22, with the screening of the documentary “Els Girona, la gran burgesia catalana del segle XIX” (The Girona Family, the great Catalan bourgeoisie of the 19th century) followed by a discussion. On Saturday, October 24, the Castell will host the discussion “La màquina no té ofici” (The machine has no trade) and a networking session.
Throughout the weekend, there will be musical performances by local groups and bands from the Camp de Tarragona region such as “Tarannà” and “The Soulful Trio”. The family show “Pianopupp” and an evening with local DJs will complete the entertainment offerings.
At the Santa Llúcia auditorium, the modernist exhibition “La moda per entendre la història” (Fashion to understand history), by Ana de la Cruz, specializing in historical costumes, will be on display. A showcase of works by local artists Florenci Andreazini and Josep Maria Cogul related to modernism will also be featured.
