The incident occurred in the municipality of Mont-roig del Camp, specifically at kilometer 274 of the motorway, where four ground units of the Fire Department were deployed after receiving the alert early this morning.

The fire started in a wheel and spread quickly, partially burning the trailer which was carrying plastic pebbles. Despite the spectacular nature of the blaze, no injuries were reported.

Emergency services used water for extinction and prevented the fire from reaching the tractor unit. They also had to seal the area with foam and cut part of the trailer with a radial saw to remove the cargo and ensure complete extinguishment.

Due to damage to the roadway, the AP-7 remained closed southbound for several hours, with diversions implemented by the Mossos d'Esquadra towards the A-7 from Cambrils. Traffic remains slow in Cambrils and there are still retentions on the A-7 in Mont-roig del Camp.
